Welcome

What an awesome time to be alive in Christ and working in His Kingdom. Higher Praise Family Church is a body of Believers committed to family and God's Kingdom. Higher Praise is called to be an Oasis of Healing, City of Refuge, and a Fountain of Unconditional Love. I encourage you to live on purpose, in the compassion of Christ, and with the power of God's Word.

Background

Charlotte and I were both raised in Midland, TX. We were high school sweethearts. We have been married for 20 years. Our son is Patrick Jr. and our daughter is Aria Janay .

Education

I have a B.A. in Psychology and two Master's degrees; Divinity and Business Administration. In addition, I am in the writing portion of a Doctor of Ministry degree. Charlotte has a BA in Liberal Studies from Texas Wesleyan University. She will complete her Master's in Education in May 2013.

Ministry

Charlotte and I, along with a handful of faithful saints, planted Higher Praise Family Church in January of 2001. The church’s mandate is to “build families while bridging the gap between the Church and the community”. The church carries out this mission with an emphasis on the family, strong foundational and doctrinal teaching, life-changing preaching, and community outreach and activism. Collectively, we are a: City of Refuge, Fountain of Unconditional Love, and an Oasis of Healing.

The City Of Refuge. Fountain of Unconditional Love. Oasis of Healing.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28

Welcome to Higher Praise Family Church, affectionately known as "The Fam, " where the Word of God is preached and taught with passion and relevance. We love hard, play hard and pray hard. Come and experience the transformative power produced by our family atmosphere. There is refreshing and healing from the “Fountain of Unconditional Love”.

Our family is also a place characterized as a city. Our family provides shelter from the storms of life. In addition, “The Fam” is a place to renew your passion, restore your joy, and refresh your walk. Come to the “City of Refuge”.

Bumps and bruises are a part of life. Heartbreak and disappointment retard forward progress. Emotional hurt and trauma manifest as physical ailments and mental anguish. Healing for your soul and hope for the hurting at the “Oasis of Healing”.

Family experiences are the norm. Birthdays, anniversaries, church picnics, family outings and fellowships, road trips, and even lock-ins are a part of our family existence. Higher Praise Family Church will equip you for service, Kingdom advancement, and family ministry. We anticipate your presence. God bless and we love ya!

VISION

Higher Praise Family Church seeks to advance the Kingdom of God in every area of society.

Spiritually, by equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

Academically, by educating children and youth in Christian Education and academia.

Culturally, by making disciples in our community that reflect the culture of the Kingdom.

Economically, by empowering and releasing Kingdom entrepreneurs into the marketplace.

Politically, by actively pursuing and participating in effecting change in our government through voting and participation.

VALUES

The family is a God-ordained organism designed to manifest God?s glory.

Christian growth and transformation flow out of a true born-again experience.

Relationships are commodities in the Kingdom.

The Kingdom operates with spiritual principles that are counter-cultural.

The local church is designed to impact the community and abroad.

What We Believe

We Believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. That the Bible is God's written revelation to man, and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible reveals God’s will for His people. The Bible is the basis for Christian doctrine and practice. (John 1:1; 2 Timothy 3:16)

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross to provide for our redemption, bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and His return to earth in power and glory. In the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, that He performs the miracle of the new birth in unbelievers and indwells believers, enabling them to live godly lives.

We believe man was created in the image of God, but because of sin, was alienated from God. Only through faith, trusting in Christ alone for salvation that was made possible by His death, resurrection, and sending of the Holy Spirit, can that alienation be removed.

We believe the Bible teaches that once a person is truly saved they are sealed with the Holy Spirit and are secure in Christ. Salvation is steeped in the complete work of Christ on the cross, not the works of man by the law. Scripture reveals at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out on Believers for empowerment. The empowerment for Believers is for service and witness. The Spirit gives spiritual gifts to Believers to operate in the Body of Christ. The indwelling Spirit manifests Believers’ freedom from the law via spiritual fruit. (Ephesians 1:13; John 10:28, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23)

We believe the Church is the collection of Believers who profess Christ. The Church carries out the Biblical mandate to equip Believers for ministry, meet the needs of the poor, orphans, and widows, and share in communion and fellowship. The Church is apostolic. Just as Christ was sent, He also sent His disciples. After Christ’s resurrection, He sent the Holy Spirit. The Church is now sent to go into all the world and make disciples. (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Peter 2:9, Matthew 28:18-20)
